Did you know that we offer a free home delivery service for those who cannot access the library in person?
Library materials are delivered by volunteers to a patron's home or residence, local institution, or care facility.
This service is available to those who are confined at home or in a health care institution within the City of Timmins and are unable to visit the library. Seniors, persons with physical and developmental disabilities, and people recovering from injury or illness are all welcome to register.
Once registered, patrons will be contacted to discuss reading preferences and be added to the delivery schedule (typically once every three weeks). Materials will be selected based on the patron's profile. When new materials are delivered, items from the previous delivery will be retrieved and returned to the Library. Long term, short term and seasonal services are available.
To register for Outreach, a patron must first have a Timmins Public Library card in good standing. A registration form must be completed (by the patron or caregiver) by phone, online or in-person at the library, in order to determine both the needs and interests of the patron so library staff can make recommendations on the most appropriate items to borrow. Contact the library to get started!
There are no fees for deliveries. Overdue fines are no longer charged at the library, however, fees will apply for lost or damaged items.
Outreach patrons can access any item from the Library collection (some restrictions may apply). Of special interest to outreach patrons may be:
- Large Print Books
- Audio Books on CD
- DAISY Digital Audio Books and DAISY Reader
- Music CDs
- DVDs
- Magazines
Loans periods coincide with a patron's delivery schedule. Most patrons receive deliveries every three weeks, but they can be scheduled more frequently upon request. Generally two renewals are permitted as long as there are no holds on the item(s).
