All residents of Timmins can obtain a library card, providing access to library collections, programs, services, digital resources, and internet stations.
Types of Membership
For residents aged 13 and over, requiring name and address identification.
For children under 13, requiring parent/guardian’s signature and name ID of child and parent/guardian.
Available for a fee ($5 per month or $30 per year), offering full library access. Name and address ID required.
Free for those not eligible for a regular card, allowing internet access only. Name ID required.
Daily access for short-term visitors. Name ID required.
Available for local organizations to provide staff with access to the Timmins Public Library’s collections, in support of their work.
For individuals without a permanent address, requiring one piece of name identification. Allows borrowing of up to 2 books and 2 DVDs and access to computers. Valid for 6 months.
For individuals without a library card. Provides immediate access to eResources. Valid for 3 months (must visit the library with identification to upgrade to a regular card).
Expiration and Replacement
Adult and Juvenile cards expire every 2 years, Internet Access cards expire after 1 year, Temporary cards every 6 months, and eLibrary cards at 3 months. A fee of $2 applies for adults cards, or $1 for juvenile card replacements.
Identification Requirements
Various forms of ID are acceptable for name and address verification, including:
Ontario Driver's License, Ontario Photo Card, or a combination of both name and address identifications, including Student ID card, Passport (name), and utility bills or bank statements (address), among others.
Children’s Right
Children have the right to access library materials and services, ensuring equitable treatment and support for their needs.
Get a Card
Register Online now to get a temporary eLibrary Card number and get immediate access to the Timmins Public Library’s Online Resources. If you already have a Timmins Public Library card, you do not need an eLibrary Card. Your current library card number and PIN can be used to access eResources and place holds. Note that eLibrary Cards will expire in 3 months if you don’t come in to verify your address in person.
